Ryuichi Sakamoto's 'G.T.' to be Reissued as Colored 7-inch Vinyl... B-side Features 'Parolibre'
Ryuichi Sakamoto's single 'G.T.' will be reissued as a colored vinyl 7-inch on May 27.
'G.T.' is a track from the 1986 album 'Mirai-pa Yaro' and was released as the lead single at the time. True to its title derived from the Italian 'Grand Turismo,' the track showcases an electric funk sound characterized by its rapid-fire development and funky rhythm.
Bernard Fowler, a member of NYC pitch boys produced by the legendary DJ Larry Levan of the New York club scene and also known for his backing vocal work with The Rolling Stones, provides the vocals.
The B-side features 'Parolibre,' counted among Sakamoto's most iconic works. Centered on piano composition that evokes Chopin's preludes, this track carries a lyrical atmosphere that contrasts with 'G.T.,' with vocals by Kano Kaori and guitar by Arto Lindsay.
This analog release is produced in colored vinyl specifications, with remastering handled by Heba Kaduri, who oversaw the 2024 reissue work of 'Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence.'
